VTCT Level 3 & Level 4 Certificate in
Sports Massage Therapy (QCF)

Purpose

The VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy (QCF) is a technical level qualification aimed at developing the knowledge, understanding and technical skills needed for a career as a Sports Massage Therapist, either employed or self employed, working in a pre, post, intra and maintenance context, with non-pathological tissue.

This qualification has been specifically designed for the 16-19 and 19 plus age group and is based on the the national occupational standards for massage, namely CNH1, CNH7 and CNH20.


The VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy (QCF) is a technical qualification aimed at developing the knowledge, understanding and technical skills needed for a career as a Sports Massage Therapist, either employed or self employed, working with recent non-acute injuries and/or pre-existing conditions.

This qualification has been specifically designed for the 16-19 and 19 plus age group and is based on the the national occupational standards for massage, namely CNH1, CNH7 and CNH21.


Why is this qualification most suitable?

The VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy (QCF) is targeted at practitioners currently working in sport and active leisure, including osteopaths, physiotherapists, sports therapists and sports massage practitioners.

This specialist qualification will enrich understanding of advanced anatomical, physiological and pathological principles relevant to the application of sports massage.


What does this qualification cover?

The Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy (QCF) will develop advanced palpation skills and the skills needed to analyse posture and range of movement.

Learners will develop a range of advanced skills and massage techniques to prevent and manage injury in sport and active leisure and will prepare learners for the long arduous hours and unpredictability of working in sport. In addition learners will develop the skills needed to critically evaluate their massage strategies and methods to inform on future treatments.



Qualification Structure - from this group you'll need to cover a minimum of 2 units

Functional anatomy, physiology and nutrition for sports therapies
Practical anatomy and physiology for sports massage
Applying massage methods to prevent and manage injury

 

Career Opportunities

Learners who complete this qualification will be able to gain employment and obtain insurance to work as a sports massage therapist dealing with recent non-acute injuries and pre existing conditions.
