VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Aromatherapy (QCF)
PurposeThe VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Aromatherapy (QCF) is a technical level vocational qualification for learners seeking a career as an employed and/or self-employed aromatherapist. This is mapped to the massage therapy National Occupational Standards (NOS) and is approved and supported by Skills for Health, the sector skills council for health as being fit for purpose for preparing learners for a career as an aromatherapist.
Entry onto this qualification can be via previous attainment of a Level 2 qualification in beauty/massage therapy and/or a successful skills test and interview.
Why is this qualification most suitable?
This qualification is the only Level 3 qualification offered by VTCT in aromatherapy. The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Aromatherapy (QCF) is about using aromatherapy techniques to aid a range of conditions. This qualification allows learners to gather evidence in a realistic working environment or real working environment without the need for fee paying clients.
What does this qualification cover?
This qualification has been specifically designed for the 16+ age groups, and will develop the knowledge skills to prepare learners for employment as an aromatherapist. Learners will have their aromatherapy skills assessed in a real or realistic working environment.
This qualification includes all the required elements to work effectively as an aromatherapist including: knowledge and understanding of the principles and practice and business practice, anatomy, physiology and pathology for complementary therapies- the full list of units is presented in the learners Record of Assessment book (ROA) (specification). Learners will also develop your understanding and practical skills to competently provide aromatherapy services. An additional unit may be added to develop knowledge and understanding of healthy eating and wellbeing for the complementary therapy client.

Further Learning OpportunitiesWhilst this qualification's primary purpose is to prepare learners for employment as an aromatherapist, learners may choose to develop their skills further by undertaking Technical Level qualifications in beauty or complementary therapies at Level 3 or 4, these include:
